Shark Bites and pex on boiler

Ironman

We looked at this job yesterday to bid on replacing this boiler and 535k btu steam boiler and converting to gas. I’ve never seen someone use 1.25” pex and Shark Bites to connect a boiler.

This was done on a multi million dollar house. The guy that did is known for being a real hack, but this is especially egregious.

This boiler will get moved to the greenhouse to replace an ancient one there.

Please tell me that that isn't PEX and sharkbites in the riser. Please.

I'm much more concerned about the romex dangling from the ceiling.

Galvy must have been cheaper at Lowes/Home Depot that day as well.

Wow. I would almost think copper would have been cheaper considering the amount of sharkbites and short runs.

That whole install is truly sad.

Yeah, but I doubt that there was an inspection.

That contractor values the all-mighty dollar over workmanship and integrity!
You don’t know just how true that is. He took a $25k deposit on another job and never returned. He told the HO that he’d spent it and couldn’t do anything about it. IDK how he got away with that.

Or the open relay boxes. I wonder how I ever made it through childhood without killing myself. At times there was some neat fireworks and blown fuses.

Worse than those things is the fact that it’s vented into an unlined chimney on an outside wall.

The rest of the job is a horror, but what's wrong with B&G 100's?
