    durring the day, I set the stat back I think 5 or 6 degrees
    what your asking the house will be unable to live in comfotably
    if your telling me to set the stat at 85.
    you say play with the odr parameters Is that under outdoor reset?

    So long as the rads are getting the flow they need. That's fine. You said before the house was comfortable.

    can i turn down the valves of the radiator

    yes, the house has been comfortable, but the lowest we have had was 30, now
    system is at 110 {128}

    the house is comfortable, just a little out of balance. The living room has always been a problem
    I don't unstand why 185 to keep it at
    it will be insane hot in here

    system 112 {128}
    flame 100%
    outside temp 32
    inside at stat 70

    what you are,shooting for is the reset curve doing all the work. You will never get it set optimally if the thermostat interrupts that setting process. You shift your reset curve so the water temp is just enough to off set the heat loss to what you feel is comfortable.

    Once that is done your golden, and the boiler will run optimally.

    I need it to stay on at 185 for a couple days? and no setbacks
    I will be so uncomfortable for a few days
    I'm happy at 71, your asking 85

    maybemark Member Posts: 1,131
    what does it mean by shifting the reset curve. Is this something the boiler does on it's own, or I have to do something manually?
    what do i do?
  • Gordy
    Gordy Member Posts: 9,546
    If the temp climbs above 71 then then you need to shift the curve to a cooler supply temp. You may need to set the shift to -9 instead of 9 where you have it now.

    is the curve the {128} on the boiler?

    Yes that is the target temp the boiler is trying to reach.

    The shift curve function allows you to tweak that number +18 to -17 degrees. So your at + 9 now you said right?

    If you absolutely must have a setback, we'll address the right way to do that -- after you have the ODR curve dialed in.

    Note the indoor and outdoor temps every hour or so for at least a day. The boiler should not shut off much, if at all. If the house overheats the thermostat will shut the boiler down.

    Adjust the ODR curve and repeat.

    If by "the heat" you mean the thermostat setting, no. We really do start with them set at 85°F or 90°F. That lets us zero in on the adjustments rapidly.

    If the room gets over 71°F (and there's not a lot of sun shining in, a woodstove burning, etc.) then head for the boiler and start adjusting. You should be able to get within 2-3°F in a day or so, at which point you start looking for days with higher highs or lower lows so you can fine tune.

    Ultimately the boiler never shuts off the modulation just drops to maintain the indoor temp according to what's needed to off set the outdoor temp.

    the heat in the house is way out of balance
    70 in bedroom

    Gordy Member Posts: 9,546
    Your low outdoor air setting is 180* IF you run out of shift adjustment you have some more yet drop that to say 160 170 then play with the shift again. NOT YET though see where what you have gets you.

    66 in living room (always cold room in house)
    68 in kitchen
    way out of balance, do not know what it is upstairs
  • maybemark
    maybemark Member Posts: 1,131
    the flame is still at 72% and 117 {117}
    obviously this is better, should it be better yet, than 72% for flame?

    The high mass of water and steel in your system is a giant flywheel. Think of the thermostat as a clutch. Think of the supply water temperature setting of the boiler as the throttle. ODR is the cruise control. The goal is to get the cruise control running the car at a constant speed without having to use the clutch.

    I have to work on the valves of the radiators, see if I can balance the system better than it is
