EG50 install cust knew exactly what he wanted. Rerunning the left steam main in 2” (it’s 1-1/4”) as it was an add on at some point in the last century, uneven heating wrong pipe sizing m, poor pitching, water hammer etc. it handles 5 extra radiators. This is also getting a two stage gas valve with a vaporstat set to 8oz. We’re getting there. I’m by myself.

Chris is right, it’s mostly service these days., and training. Trying to get the young individuals educated. One smell of that cutting oil smoke and it’s all over. I do miss doing these installs with my Dad, he can’t do it anymore.

I’m actually spending most of my time in my garage with a little Harley repair gig. I really enjoy working on motorcycles.

It makes a huge difference. Sorry to hear your dad is slowing down but he's put his time in, just like my dad. It's hard too watch though. I hope you're well.

For small boiler I have used solid 4" cement blocks. Clean the floor good and stick them down with silicone. Once the boiler is on it it's not bad.

Pouring a pad especially for a larger boiler is obviously better.
