the problem is with the regulation. you can build something that you know will vent refrigerant in to the atmosphere with no consequence.

there’s no regulation on how long it has to last.

They do not, but they do manufacture refrigerants. Look at the current cost of 1234yz vs R134A which now has an expired patent.
IMO, it won't go into politics if you simply stick to the facts and don't wander and add speculation.

my point is it is the chemical companies that are lobbying for profit, the equipment manufacturers usually are lobbying against change and are just caught in the patent fight. in fact usually they put their money in lobbying against the change instead of figuring out how to make a good product with the change they throw something terrible together at the last second.

I'm not sure that manufacturers are against change. Pardon the AI but it writes up a summary much better than I can. I remember when I got a new Carrier system a couple decades ago and it used the proprietary term "Puron". I have to imagine Carrier didn't fight against Puron. I will cease posting after this one—it was a response to question of regulations causing problems in the industry.
