I believe there were known issues with specific types of Uponor tubing, but I'm not positive.
As of this time, I'll continue using Uponor white type A pex without fear. I've seen no problems with it for the 20 years I've been around it.
From what I've heard about some locations and the water, copper will fail with pinholes while Pex will not.

That particular video, is short on detail and evidence. Not saying it's not true, but many pieces of the puzzle are missing. Was it the pipe, was it the fittings, was the pipe left out in the sun, where they installed incorrectly..... Sounds like a bit of sensationalistic journalism. Report on the sensational parts, and leave out all relevant details

I've been following this a while - there seems to be two pockets of failed Uponor PEX, one around the greater Atlanta area and the other in California, and most of these are only a few years installed, but it covers maybe 10 years that I can see.
Uponor never explained what happened, if they even know what happened, or if they fixed the problem assuming they know what went wrong, but it's bad enough where I stopped using it. It's the silence from Uponor that scares me.
PEX B can often be expanded (look for the F1960 certification printed on the pipe) as can PE-RT. That's what I use for plastic when I'm not using copper.

There have been some isolated rumors, or dare I say reports of some pex leaks. Can't tell how big or small the issue is. However, it doesn't seem like another sixty-minute story from decades ago will be warranted.
I'm wondering if the tubing was left out in the sun for a time before it was installed.

Seems there were some issues with the coloring process on some pex tubing.
This repipe contractor has some You Tube videos explaining failures he has experienced with various brands.

This month marks exactly ten years since Joe Ludlow's Integrity Repipe crew completely replaced the leaking copper in my then-23-year-old home. They used Uponor PEX. So far, no PEX leaks have become apparent. Perhaps the fact that I've got a whole-house pressure regulator set to 45 PSI has minimized stress on those joint areas. I'm not going to open any walls to look for this problem. If the PEX lasts as long as the copper did carrying our alleged water, I'll be too old to worry about it. 😊

We are having trouble with some restaurants up in the state of New Hampshire. They ran the Pex-A underground to feed the bar and hand sinks at the bar and the are leaking just above the floor. We are assuming nothing is happening in the floor at this time.

Pex and polyethylene shouldn't have any issues with ethanol even 100%.
Floor washing chemicals on the other hand……..

@kcopp I'm not sure. All i have seen is pictures that my guys have sent. Every leak they have seen is above the floor and they just cut it back but there ain't much left to cut back. Next phase will be saw cutting the floor unless they find a different way to feed the bars.

could it have to do with expansion and the stuff in the concrete can't move anywhere but it can once it is out of the concrete?

I did my first in-slab radiant floor in 1982 using Pex A or B. I don't remember which. I was a first year apprentice helping on the job. Going back all those years using various brands and types of pex tubing, I have never experienced a failure. I've had my favorites throughout the years and always kept using what I considered the winners. Rehau, Wirsbo which then became Uponor, Weil McLain's AlumiPex, Watts Radiant Pex-Al, among a few others. WM's AlumiPex is long gone, but I've used miles of the other three. It wouldn't be fair to mention my favorite.

I think the most current failure issues were a specific brand of potable water pex in the blue or red color, only. Sounds like failures start 4- 5 years after the installation.

I've seen the same type of failures in the white Uponor pipe as well. I think the colored pipe got the bad press because it's simply installed far more than the white pipe is. The red gets the worse press of all because whatever it is that aggravates Uponor pipe to premature death, heat just adds to it, and if the red pipe is also used in recirculation setups, it's now seeing another factor (total water moving through pipe) that will cause premature wear and tear. When the red pipe starts failing in year 6 (for instance), you can expect the blue to fail in year 10.

There was some concern as to how the various manufacturers were getting the "5" code on their tube.
Rehau played it safe with a "3" listing.
It seems it takes a few years of that high chlorine, high temperature (140F) recirculation for failures to show up.
I don't know if that test standard ASTM F2023 is for extended periods? Is it an actual extend duration test or just some number crunching?

I've never seen red or blue installed only white because guys buy the 1000' spool and install it for everything.

I think red/ blue is more of a convience factor, and to help prevent cross connections for the unskilled, or lazy installer.
I see tract home plumbers around here with two uncoilers on the job.

Plumber that use a lot of pex probably buy the colors because they know they will use the whole coil. Small users may buy 1 white coil.

The white is probably a color that is added to the tube like red or blue. I wonder why the red and blue are the colors that are the most common failures.
If it was the color adding process that is causing the failure? According to the lawsuits.

Now I don't know how accurate the author of this sentence was, but your highlighting missed the beginning of the sentence which indicated that of the colored pex failures, it is the Uponor red and blue that are most commonly linked. Whether it's correct or not I don't know, but the sentence isn't saying that most pipe failures are colored pipe.

Could be a regional thing. Most installations I've seen around here are the red/blue. Personally, I never used the color pipes because to me, it looks cheap and unprofessional. One can argue that any plastic is cheap and unprofessional, but that's a different discussion.
In any case, the expansion rings are made of the same material as the pipe itself, these are not colored red or blue, and they show the same yellowing and cracking as the colored pipe.
