I'll have to find my yellow pad that I did all of my radiator math on.

It appears that my boiler is sized properly. However with the sunroom and attic radiators shut off it is slightly oversized.

From my 1935 Webster catalog :

so the check valves mean it can equalize the return to the boiler without equalizing the return main.

Yes, it's still all in place and connected to the system.

Never Seize is a good product but use sparingly.
you don’t need the grease and graphite in the boiler

Well, if it was my system, I'd definitely get a gauge or a home brew water Manometer on that system so you can see what is actually going on. Depending on that vent valve this system may normally fall into a vacuum at times, assuming the rest of the system is still air tight.

I'm very aware of using it sparingly. As a professional mechanic I know that it gets everywhere.

I used some Dow Corning 111 silicone grease on the threads and "O" ring of my B & J Bigmouth vent, the jury is still out.

One home brew water manometer as an example.

I believe the system is pretty tight as well. I did fix a couple of minor leaks at the radiators over the winter which were just loose nuts to one of the valves and one return trap and then the packing nut on the valve in the upstairs guest bathroom was loose.

Traps can fail open or closed. Usually open.
