Actually not even close for all the increases the past 3 years but seeing a December rate decrease of 15% is encouraging

One way to get familiar something you know nothing about is to ask a really smart person a really stupid question

    A decrease? Sure it's not a misprint?

Wholesale Natural Gas and Heating Oil are currently cheap. $2.38 / gallon Oil and $2.38 / therm gas. Probably because the markets are assuming a recession and therefore less demand.

    Con Edison explanation:

Lower demand, due in part to warmer temperatures this fall, and increased
production have resulted in an abundance of gas supplies and higher gas storage levels at this time. With supply up and demand stable, residential customers can expect lower bills

Prices here have fallen significantly for gas and electric will remain flat for the rest of the year https://www.bge.com/MyAccount/MyBillUsage/Documents/Gas/GasCommodity_SchedD and SchedC.pdf

Probably from the market adjusting to natural gas no longer being available from russia being a long term thing.

So markets and distribution systems can react to changes in supply and demand!! I heard they couldn't...

I have kept a couple chickens ,as a hobby, for over a decade. When I tried to buy a couple more from January thru April, my local hatchery was always sold out of chicks. People actually believed that raising hens for eggs is cheaper than eggs from the store! I suspect there will be a lot of hens for sale soon

If there decreasing prices, then it only means their hands have been in your pockets too much.

Yeah, I never tried to audit the cost of eggs produced but I figure it is North of $15/dozen. Then there's the winters with few eggs and, finally, henapause. So, maybe way North.

Our neighbour keeps about a dozen. When they go out of town, my son looks after them and gets the eggs. Man, those are sooo much tastier than even 'good' groc store eggs.
People in the rural that sell them privately tend to ask $5 or 6 (CDN). I'm not sure if they crunched the numbers, but I would hope so. Groc store eggs seem to be $4-$6.

I get large brown, strong shell eggs for a "donation" of $3.00 a dozen, delivered to my house.

Steady price for years now. Available nearly year around.

It is cheaper by the dozen! But I'm an urban chicken keeper. Four is the max.

I just paid $7.50 for a dozen at store. Down to one non laying bird.

Sounds like chicken soup in your future.
