Steam Replacement Beechwood NJ

Not many steam systems in at the Jersey shore so I was surprised when he called, but wasn’t surprised he couldn’t find any local plumbers to do the replacement. It was a Utica PEG150 375 sq ft connected to 540 sq ft of radiation, needless to say it didn’t work. The house was also piped in all 3” steam mains. Not sure why but I guess someone had some money to spend back in the day. I went back and forth between the EG65 and the EG55 ultimately I decided to go in with the EG55 figuring it’s almost 700 sq ft with the pickup factor added.

Doing this job by myself so I’m beat up right now.

See, to me, you slapped the dead men in the face by removing that 4” header 😉. They’re laughing at you feeling beat up, saying “you’d feel a hell of a lot better if you didn’t removed our header and separate the mains that you already thought were oversized.” 🤣

On a serious note, it looks pretty as always. I hope the paycheck looks pretty too.

Look at the nice full port valve on the fuel pipe.  It never even occurred to me before but now that stands out as a huge minor detail to me.

Thanks everyone for the kind comments, what isn’t seen is the 25’ of 2” wet return piping that was leaking replaced. Two 2” flanged joints on one of the steam mains was leaking, ended up repiping and replacing with unions. It was a big job and my help wasn’t able to be around at this time, I did this at the same time we lost my mother in law due to very bad strokes. Got through it though still comforting my wife as it happened so sudden.
