Steam boilers are dropping like flies in your area. What are you doing, 3 a week?
    I'm jealous.

Nice job! I'm probably going to get that same boiler if & when my Peerless G-561 ever dies, but I'm starting to think it might outlast me.

Yep, we've got g series boilers ( or the prior model) installed in the 60's that are still going. Owner started using treatment before we began maintaining it and the boiler is nice and clean when we go out to service it.

Not if you have clean water, proper piping that keeps the water in the boiler, a tight system and run low pressure, No telling how long it will last.

I have all that. But there are an awful lot of reports of burnhams failing. Those photos look like the boiler operated under a pile of road salt.

I'm curious, since this will probably be the model I end up installing, how hard would it be to get this through a couple of doorways and down a flight of stairs?

@Hap_Hazzard are you doing the install yourself? If so you’ll need at least 2 other people to help you out bringing the boiler down the flight of stairs. We take off all the controls off before bring down the boiler.

@EzzyT Yeah, I was planning on doing the install. I can find some help getting it down the stairs. Did you use a hand truck or carry it or...?

We use an appliance hand truck. The ones we have are rated for 1000lbs and make sure your stairs can handle the total load bodies weight and boiler.

You need to measure your doorways. Taking off jackets, burner tray and controls will give you more room. Shipping weight of boiler is something like 575 pounds.

Yes. Me too. The reason the bulkhead doors are made is for loading and unloading of the big stuff mentioned above.
Finished basements/basements with no bulkhead doors are problems. BIG problems when; a boiler , water heater, oil tank, etc. need to be changed.
