    My understanding is that the "window" method of temperature regulation is a NYC tradition, a part of the city-dweller's culture going back many decades.

    I spoke with the author of this article last year. I explained in detail what we have done at The General Society of Mechanics and Tradesmen of the City of New York (20 W. 44th St.). With very little expense, we lowered the ConEd steam bill by 43% in our 1890 landmarked building. I offered to show her or anyone else in City government the building. There was zero interest in that. They've made up their minds.
    Retired and loving it.

    Wait, we need to keep the windows open to help with global warming so we need to burn less fuel to make heat. Aren't we all supposed to do as much as we can to increase our carbon footprint.....or do I have that backwards? lol
