They generally show up on Craigslist, at least in the NYC and surrounding areas.

Hot water. I just looked at job where the customer wants to put CI rad's and Baseray in an older house with an addition being added.
I haven't done a load calc yet, so IDK the sizes. The original house is a typical "4 square", 32' X 32', two story, 4 rooms each floor. So, it looks like several of them will be the same size.

You may be able to just reuse what's in the house. When an addition is added, the heat loss of the adjacent spaces drops dramatically.... sometimes to zero. Generally, the heat loss of the expanded house is often the same or lower than the original home, assuming quality installation of the insulation and proper attention to air sealing ( which is not the norm, however).

The house now has convectors connected to old monoflo piping that's busted. The owner wants CI rad's in the old part and Baseray in the new.

I'm planning on a home run system with manifolds and TRVs.

I'm trying to find a source for refurbished rads. There used to be one somewhere in the NYC area, but I can't find any info on it now.

I sent the owner a Burnham version brochure to consider as an option. I'm guessing that if he goes this route, it will be the decorative style for the old section and Baseray for the new.

I'll let you know if he decides this way.

OK- DC would be a schlep from there, and you'd have to get around to the east side of the city, but here are two locations that are fairly close to each other:

@Steamhead I happened to be at BuildingsNY conference yesterday and stopped in on the EcoRad booth. Really nice people and they do beautiful restorations. See photos, restored and electrically adapted unit: the element goes in on the bottom and the unit is filled with a mix of water and glycol. Unit in photo uses 1000 watts; amperage would depend on voltage 220 or 110 or other. Given high power costs in NE not sure if it's viable here.

I need about 8. This is a total build from scratch system, so I need matched rad's that are reliable. I wouldn't consider Craigs List for materials that I would have to warranty to my customer.

@Erin Holohan Haskell , do we still have a listing of places that have used radiators? If so, I think we have some places to add to it- if not, we should start one.

Northland radiator, he has upwards of couple hundred. He trucks them out of Duluth Minnesota. I had to get a couple from him for a 20+ radiator replacement job and he shipped to Seattle. Not too bad of pricing and shipping competitive.

Dear Friend, I purchased old cast iron radiators
is there a way to convert these to fit my hot water heating system? yikes I think I screwed up!

Is there a connection across the top of the radiators, from section to section, to allow the water to flow? I can't quite tell from the pictures...

If there is, it's just a matter of adding an air vent at the top of one end. If there isn't... you're toast.

Unfortunately, if the rad's have no connection across the top of the sections, then they can only be used for steam. Conversely, rad's with the top connections can be used for steam or hot water.
Please also note that they need to be sized properly for the load of each room in which they will be installed. This involves two things:
    1. You need to do an accurate room by room heat loss calculation. SlantFin has a free app you can download for this.
    2. The rad's btu output is based upon its square footage of surface area. This is also referred to as EDR (Equivalent Direct Radiation). There are tables to determine this as well as a book in this site's online store called "EDR - Every Darn Radiator". Multiplying the surface area X 150 will give you the btu output for the rad at 170* average water temp.

If those radiators won't work for hot-water, you may be able to trade them for some that will. Someone will want those beauties.

Or, you could do what I would do, and build a steam system!
