    A very generous Bean!

Robert bought the first round at the Wallie dinner in Sacramento on Thursday night. There were about 40 very thirsty Wallies there.

Now we've got to get some work for the lad so he can pay his credit card bill!

    As always....

a class act. Well, not an act exactly, but the real deal. Robert is one of the best & no matter what he decides to tackle, he'll do just fine.

What rain? What tornado? Met with Gov Davis Friday afternoon! No kidding, we were in the state cap building when he came through & we took some great snaps of him meeting with a group of youngsters on the cap building steps.

Cruised the coastal shores and Napa valley yesterday followed by a jaunt into Frisco and dinner in a Saucalito restaurant overlooking the bay to Frisco. Then, as if by design, a huge fireworks display played out on Frisco's shore & the reflected images dancing across the waters were as if a thousand artists were busily brushing vivid water colors across the dancing waters.

Almost met Grace Slick - no kidding! She was presenting her art works just up the street & we were too dumb to realize it had been her until we were walking to the car after dinner. D'OH! Stopped in & viewed the art works. She's a very talented artist.

Sorta sad to see the RPA being absorbed by ISH, but also looks like a fantastic opportunity to evolve and grow the industry.

    True to his word,

as Dan indicated, Robert paid for the first round at the Wallies dinner. Almost 50 people.

You should have seen the look on the waiter's face when Robert asked to pay for the entire first round.

Fabulous walk, eight blocks, in the rain, to the restaurant by over 40 people. The only thing missing was a group version of "Doo Wah Diddy" like Bill Murray lead in the movie "Stripes". Robert, Dan and all walked through the rain to enjoy a meal together.

SPECIAL THANKS to Mark Eatherton for organizing this group event.

    Thanks. Jeff Riley

Great to see you Robert. We'll connect at ISH Vegas for sure. Still thinking of some suitable names for extending the Wetstock Roundtable. I'll miss you in Calgary on Th. ...Oh well. I'll register my feelings to the Danfoss Head Honcho in person.
    Love, Paul

    Not too far

from making this the longest thread ever. I have great hope, but I need your help, lads. It's the little things in life that count.

Preserve us from a Bean-less business!

I say Bring Back the Bean!

I noticed the other day that there was a post about Danfoss ZCP and someone came back and mentioned that Wirsbo now has a comparable product, and no one from Danfoss jumped in. Ahh, the Bean never would have let that slip by. Why, he would have found a fine and creative way to turn the spotlight back on his own company, because he is a creative leader, he is.

    Bring Back the Bean!

This industy needs passion. You can never have enough passion.

    Right, lads?

    got a hunch

this thread will help give "The Bean" enough more confidence that he will end up in a better position than ever before... and that is what it's all about right?

    The Bean

    GIVES confidence, Richard.

Imagine a guy who just quit his job, on principle, mind you. He gets togeter with the Wallies at RPA and then buys the house a drink.

He doesn't have a job and he buys the house a drink.

That's not a guy who needs confidence; that's a guy we can all learn from. That guy's a leader.

but even a guy like Robert HAS to have a moment now and then when he asks whether he did the right thing... no?

    Where else could one guy

get to treat so many friends than over a bowl full of spaghetti!

Who owns this quote? "If you love what you do, you'll never work another day in your life."

Based on this I haven't worked in a long time!

Thanks for the fun evening...still can't believe I've missed so many before...will definitely rearrange the future schedule to:

Dave Yates - Grace Slick can't touch you!

Speaking of a class act and award winner...perhaps its Grace that should be coming to see your works of art!

Great to see you and Lois again.

    I guess...

I am basing my thoughts on a couple of times I quit. There was a lot of hurting involved. But then neither do I claim to be on the level Robert is either.

    passion for this business:)

gotta be the catacombs we get to slither through. The many contortions we find are bodies in.The whistle of the turbos, the clicking of controls, the smell of new iron heating, the hammers and wedges driving old iron apart, the burns we ignore as solder flys, and the best is the roar of a new Riello blasting through the belly of a new chamber.............ooooooopppp's got a bit carried away.Sorry I missed the party in sunny Sacramento:)

Richard .... I agree with Dan - You are Valuable!

One special thing about RPA this year...the absolute best questions were asked from everyone regarding my departure - and asked in a million different ways which makes one explore from inside the mind, heart and soul - from completely different angles and dimensions.

One senior executive from a major manufacturer asked in an interview, if given the chance would I handled the circumstances differently ... not a chance ... I must believe when one has demonstrated in their career certain credibility's and abilities that when faced with a challenging situation, our principals are there to guide us along, the shareholders who buy companies hope they picked the right person to make these judgements ... often we tend to find ourselves doing what others want us to do rather than doing what we should be doing when we ignore these signals, it is in fact a major source of stress in many peoples lives - but not mine.

If one wants to know where one's internal compass is pointing ask yourself, "if I had no fear of loss in pride, income, status or security...how would I behave...would I go back to school, travel the world, help the homeless, stand up to bullies, volunteer more, teach???? As a kid, everything I ever learned about principals I learned from around the kitchen table with my siblings and parents. Give thanks, keep your elbows off the table, say please (a lot), share and take only your portion, pitch in regularly to do the dirty work because when you learn to get along and know that all are equal - even doing the dishes becomes a fun project.

So did I have a moment of doubts ... - someday I'll write a story about Danfoss as one of the greatest companies in our industry but the details will be in the lives of the extraordinary people I had the privilege of working with.

    I don't know

Robert but from all the posts here it gets more obvious every day that he'll be ok no matter where he goes.

I repeat, I don't know him and he does know me, but this story says a lot about him. He e'mailed me and gave me thanks for the kind words expressed in an earlier post. I doubt I'm the only one.
