Cool but illegal as per most plumbing codes. Fixtures are required to have UPC or other acceptable listing
Im pretty sure, as I got turned down on a Brew Pub job that wanted to use custom made urinals it was in a UPC code state. IPC may be different?Bob "hot rod" Rohr

Correct. Fixtures, fittings, appliances, and appurtenances need to meet a standard, and be listed and labeled. Im sure it is not inexpensive.hot_rod said:Cool but illegal as per most plumbing codes. Fixtures are required to have UPC or other acceptable listing

ASME is a pretty stringent listing that involves tracking the steel back to the manufacturer, certified welders, on site inspections, lots of paperwork. It would more than double the cost of that product if it needed an ASME stamp😗
Their disclaimer seems to indicate there are no listings on the product. Seems they are “self certifying” the products
But Id imagine there are a lot of plumbing products sold without listings. Or import knock -offs with fake listings in them.Bob "hot rod" Rohr

Hello @hot_rod,
I'm not saying the product complies with any of the needed codes or listings for that application. Just saying what they stated and they are out there for sale. So the ones that @Mad Dog_2 found may not be Home Brew...

I have both of the bathrooms in my new house that I self built. Plumbed for urinals that I'm fabricating out of minny kegs. They have a dished top. Going to use antique tappers to flush them. I came up with it outta my own head. Probably because I worked second job as a bouncer for 23 years.
Didn't know someone else was weird like me. Slightly different. But same idea. Lol.1 -
MCC...I bounced for about 3 years..PM me we can tell War Stories ha ha 😂 😆 🤣 😄 😉 😀 Mad Dog 🐕0

My elementary school had something similar, but around 5 of them.gassyman said:I know this is somewhat off topic, but as I read this thread, I was reminded of these urinals that I saw at a school in Oregon.
On multiple occasions I saw confused 4-5 year olds standing inside the urinal to pee; coating their shoes with their own urine and whoever's was there before them.
That was the only building where I remember seeing separate hot and cold faucets. Unusual plumbing fixture choices for sure.1 -
My house came with a ci pedestal sink with separate hot and cold taps. The sink was kohler if i recall. The overflow was more rust than overflow inside. I have seen separate hot and cold taps in public bathrooms occasionally but i don't remember where. i have seen only a cold tap and a plug in the hot opening where there was no dhw too. I think some of them had the spring loaded auto shutoff cartridges.1

Some years ago I was asked if I could fix the hot water supply in the restrooms of a 1961 parochial school.
I went to school there when it was built and never noticed any problem with the hot water.
Looking in the plumbing chase it was obvious that there was never any hot water connected.
The H & C were both connected to the cold supply.
Hanging down in the chase was a 3/4" line capped and connected to the hot supply line.
So added a tempering valve and separate hot supplies to the valves.
At several school reunions I asked class mates if they noticed lack of hot water. None did.
The conclusion was that there was little hand washing going on in the 60's-70's-etc.4 -
They may have changed where they got the water too. Here in ann arbor where the system is small and we get most of our water from a river the water is very cold in the middle of winter. In places that have detroit water since the system is so large the cold water has more of a chance to absorb heat from i suppose the ground (and possibly the detroit river isn't as cold) and it isn't as noticeably cold in the winter. Kids also tend to not notice a lot of things because they don't know there is another option.1

Our water source is ground water. About 55 or so year round.
Another factor is that many kids did not have running hot water at home, it had to be heated on the stove.
Most had indoor flush WC but certainly not all.
BTW, this was state of the art school building. Pneumatic Powers Day/Night controls on hot water heat with fresh air convectors in each class room. Pre piped for TV and phone. Ceramic tile in hallways and RR's.
I thinking the priest, who called all the shots, decided that those kids didn't need hot water. It was plumbed to the teacher's RR and kitchen.1 -
I still see operational seperate Hot & Cold lavatory cocks...quite a bit. Mad Dog 🐕1
