I'm jealous as I have only worked on handicapped/knucklehead existing systems, making the best (hopefully) of what is there.
Where did you get the idea for dropped manifold tree water seal for controls and gauges?0 -
Used to be common with large commercial boilers (where you need a ladder to reach the controls) to put the high limit on the boiler then pipe over to the wall and down to 5' off the floor and mount the operating and modulating controls on the wall.0

WOW, that is a picture perfect installation but where are the cast iron fittings. (just kidding) I also like the aluminum pipe wrench with the optional bent handle indicating a cheater handle that every good pipe fitter has at his disposal. If I was looking for a job I would come see you. You have pride in your work.2

What are the multiple I assume king valves for?0
-
You need to shut off all the risers to do a blow-down. They also come in handy for isolating risers while troubleshooting balance/distribution issues. Every riser should have one.mattmia2 said:What are the multiple I assume king valves for?

Very nice! Exceptional is the word.0

Wow. That looks like art to me. The first thing that comes to mind seeing that installation is that it's proper. Flawless.0
-
Awesome as usual. How many man hours just for the pipe insulation? Jus wondering.
There was an error rendering this rich post.

Always a great job. Clean. Really clean. True Plumb and level as they say.
Excellent work !0 -
I wonder how that would work with that big column of water sitting on top of the pressure control. It would throw off the pressure control 1 psi for every 28 inches of water stacked up above.EBEBRATT-Ed said:Used to be common with large commercial boilers (where you need a ladder to reach the controls) to put the high limit on the boiler then pipe over to the wall and down to 5' off the floor and mount the operating and modulating controls on the wall.

Clever Brooks and a few others use that drop down trap for the pressure controls on their package boilers. For high pressure boilers, that 1# for every 28" makes almost no difference when the pressures are 100# and above. I always hated working above a boiler especially in the summer due to the heat, so a low mounted limit was a welcome change.0
