Repiping a 63-03 and down firing it to a 63-03L. Oversized, terrible piping, and copper to boot. Not a problem for us.....

What did you do to down fire it? I didn't think that was an approved option for that peerless. I have a 50 percent oversize peerless that I'd like to down fire.

You can go down from the standard size to the “L” variant (or vice versa) I believe with a conversion kit that Peerless sells for their 63 line.

Beautiful dual supply drop on that little guy, Dave!

Did you get the size pretty close? What was the radiated EDR?

Peerless makes their gas boilers with option of using one of two burner trays. The 63-03 and the 63-03L are the same boiler with different sized burner trays. Weil Mclain does the same thing.

The only thing different is the burner manifold. 63-03 is tapped 4 burners and the L is tapped with 3.

The boiler manual does list a different part number for the flue collector. 63-03 is 50281. 63-03L is 50282. Not sure if there is an actual difference. The WM boilers have different draft hoods for same sized boilers with different manifolds

Finally got back and finished this job. We also ran a new main into the new extension on the home with two more radiators that the AC guy said couldn’t be done without high expenses. :#
Anyway forgot to snap pics of all the new stuff. Spent half a day in a crawl space running pipe. It’s all part of the job....... Also the chimney was eliminated during the renovation so they concocted this long flue run, I don’t like it but it’s what I had to work with. Also sent the cycle guard LWCO to the scrap yard. :D
