Is this header piping ok?

Options

I think my header piping is incorrect.

For starters, the height from waterline to bottom of first horizontal section is only 20 in.

The first riser and header are 2.5 in pipe, then reduced to 2 in through the tee, followed by the coupling to original 3 in header from the old boiler. The equalizer is 1.5 in.

Boiler is a Weil-Mclain SGO-4, installed by previous owner in 2020.

Any thoughts?

the header from the old boiler is still there

  • Here’s a picture of the backside. Looks like the wet return connection into equalizer is just below the water line.

Mattmia2, you’re saying that the top 3” horizontal pipe is what counts as my header? That’s what I need minimum 24 in distance from the water line?

Does not look great. They should have separated those two inch mains, and ran them individually into a new header. Seems like the old header was left in place. Even if it is pitched back towards the new header, there might be excess water over there. And can't really tell pictures of any of those horizontal pipes. Not so thrilled with that 2" horizontal pipe coming off the header. The main question is. Is it working properly. Or relatively well. If yes, then might not be worthwhile doing anything

Leave it alone. Its not text book but the new header and equalizer are correct. The 2" out of the tee should have been 2 1/2 or 3" but its such a short run it will be fine.

If you not getting any knocking or banging leave it as is not worth changing. If it was knocking or banging you would know by now.

The barometric damper is in the wrong location however.
