Amana Heat Pump “01” Fault Code

Options

Amana (Goodman) Model #: ASZC180361CA

Outdoor Heat pump unit is throwing a 01 Fault Code (Low pressure CO trip).

Have tried replacing capacitor, and numerous full system restarts. The unit will come on for 1.5 minutes and then shut off. It also shuts off the air handler when this happens. Thermostat and air handler are both calling for cooling, (AC2 displayed on air handler). Attempted holding down “test” button on outdoor unit. No change.

Any thoughts would be helpful.

Thank you.

Low pressure comes from loss of load on the evaporator (usually an air flow issue) or loss of refrigerant feeding evaporator (usually low on refrigerant).

A capacitor has nothing to do with low pressure.

Start with the basics: is your filter clean?

yes, everything is clean. Replaced capacitor before noticing the error code.

    system is 3 years old.

Again, if your air flow is good, then most likely the system is low on refrigerant. In which case, the leak should be located and repaired and the system properly recharged.

Did the system ever work correctly?

Was the indoor airflow ever checked?

Airflow is great. Plenty of pressure on the high side, low pressure on the low side most likely Tx Valve. Coils are not even getting cold before unit shuts down with the fault code.

low on refrigerant but more likely a failed TXV or powerhead. Check the superheat and subcooling. They are both probably very high. liquid stacking in the condenser causing high subcooling and bad txv causing high superheat.

Good way to burn a compressor.
