Carrier draft inducer motor replacement
I have a Carrier Weathermaker 8000TS that’s about 20 yrs old and the draft inducer motor and fan need replacing. I Hopi g just to get the rest of winter out of it before and upgrade.
I’ve searched for part# but have come across so many different numbers that I’m just uncertain which one applies. I deal with Johnstone and they were a little perplexed at finding the exact part# as well. I ended up using the part# off the motor, FB-RFB212, and using that they found a motor & fan assembly, which is great. They did find an exact motor replacement on its own but I need to replace the assembly also. So cost wise the complete unit was more cost affective.
The issue is the horsepower on the new complete assembly’s motor is 1/26hp whereas the existing motor is listed as 1/30hp. Other than that everything is identical on both motors.
my question is can I use this replacement? The staff at Johnstone thought I might but were uncertain if the pressure switch might need adjustment. I also wonder if there may be any other adjustments needed or issues

Unless it's some really weird kind of motor, they will both try to spin at the same speed, so you shouldn't need any adjustments on it. The new one has slightly more rated power, but that shouldn't make any difference. If it had less, there ight be a problem, but not more.

1/26 and 1/30 are essentially the same number, they are likely just the result of them buying the motor from different manufacturers.

Take the model and serial number down to Johnstone , you need the complete fan assemble ..I am sure it is on the shelf .

Always the whole assembly. Its a no brainer. Johnstone should be able to cross reference it.
Have you tried to contact Carrier?
