Near boiler pipping installation instruction shows two riser tapping to main. Contractor only installed a single riser to main. Utica technical was contacted - they said that the boiler is designed to have two risers - one riser should not be used. Please. advise

the installer was unable to read and follow the installation manual. hope you haven't paid them yet.

might be ok, we need to see a couple pictures from different angles, especially both sides. might be a header arranged in a U.

make sure the pipe sizes follow the manual and that the order of the risers from the boiler, the risers to the building steam main(s) and the connection to the equalizer are in the order show in the manual too.

    Is your model # correct?

All you or your installer has to do is read the manual that comes with the boiler. They show the piping diagram.

Follow the diagram for pipe sizes and riser, equalizer and steam supply piping. It's very simple.

What is everyone's thoughts about the outer jacket (paper?) of the pipe insulation resting against the flue pipe?

Since this is a new install I feel it needs to at least be made to meet the manufacture's minimum requirements which it currently does not.

Single pipe 392sqft system with an EG-40 rated for 325sqft and it's silent and balanced at all times.

We might need a better picture here, I think I see 2 risers (marked in red). Can you take a picture further back so we can more clearly see all the piping?

I think @KC_Jones may be right, the header is arranged in a u right along the back, to the front then to the left but it is hard to see here. If the pipe sizes are ok, then it is ok.

The guy that piped it didn't have a clue or he owns a supply house.

I count no less than 5 unions and there is probably another one on the RH insulated riser making it 6.

    All you need is 3.

If I had done that with 6 unions, they would have tossed me out of the union

How long have you been waiting to use that one? 😂 Pretty funny though

that's what i thought but I think it might be correct and in a big u that we can't see from the camera angle

It looks like they had the boiler connections correct (assuming right size which you should check) in this post then thy added that loop in the equalizer to get the main connection correct:

also note that this is a vapor system.

@ethicalpaul Truth is I never noticed the pun when I typed that (if that is what it is). 3 unions in the equalizer alone.

I agree but he does say there's only one. Hopefully he'll come back to clarify.
