The six hour boiler swap
This 15-year-old boiler was kicking some codes. After a couple of of attempts to correct it, the homeowner asked for a new boiler. We tipped our hat and said “yes, sure thing”
The existing zone valves and indirect water heater are out of sight
You’ll have to pardon the puddle on the floor. We shot a hose out the basement window, and then we hear the sound of running water (and not a little). Knee jerk reaction was to shut the water off to the boiler. But it wasn’t the relief valve, the water was pouring in through the stone foundation. Oops, so, we have to run the hose a little bit further😀

I was just about to conduct my "inspection by pictures" so I looked at the first pic and said "fail".
Then I looked at the other pics and saw the stickers on the flue and intake.

Is the cleanout tee a homemade neutralizer?

yes a homemade neutralizer. We dump marble stones in there. I’m too cheap to buy the store bought ones 😀

Yes that bracket simply holds the expansion tank in its proper position. For years we installed them upside down (and it works), yet the instructions say it needs to be in the traditional orientation- so be it. (From a practical laymen’s standpoint- the bladder inside the tank—- I fail to see how it matter because “pressure” doesn’t know direction)
That’s a 3 port, so we can pipe the plumbing/water from the ceiling into that “plugged” port. But this was a quick swap: I would have used a 2 port here but I simply have extra 3 ports in my inventory—-I need to use them up. (I used up all my 2 ports a while back)
