That's what it looks like. Wired to the box, but not connected through the 'stat.

As I and others have stated previously, There is no need for that control on a steam boiler. Whoever put it there discovered quickly that it was unnecessary and maybe even caused the system to produce no heat at all. That is why there are no wires connected to the control. Easiest way to correct a mistake is to disconnect the wires from it and put the cover back on it, the average customer won't know the difference.

After you make that expensive repair and you still have the same problem, What will you check next?

    You’re right, I don’t think it’s actually connected.

It is not connected it is bypassed. Take the wire apart with the power shut down and cap the two wires with wire nuts or tape them separately. See how the system works with it it disconnected. No harm done you can always reconnect the two wires (do not reconnect the control) and see what happenes.

Also find where the two wire go and post some pictures of that that will give us a clue as to what is going on.

I had a technician remove the aquastat, I asked him about my boiler and he said Crown boilers are garbage and that’s what they do. So I don’t know what to make of that.

he also increased my pressurepetrol though I don’t really see a difference and also recommended to flush the boiler atleast 2 times a month.

We had a Crown that lasted in the neighborhood of 10-13 years I don't recall precisely, rotted up top from too much makeup water I'm sure of it. Had I known then what I know now it would have lasted a lot longer - back then I didn't really know what "normal" was for makeup water, piping, pressure, water quality etc. When it died of rot I educated myself and did all the maintenance that various techs had not ever really mentioned or suggested to do. Repack all the stems. Change vents. Add main venting. Water treatment / manage pH. Track makeup water. Helping yourself in that regard solves most of the tech problems, since you won't need to call them much at all.

he said my boilers water is really dirty (dark brown). I also flushed it a month ago myself and it was dirty then too. My previous pressurepetrol was at 2PSI main and 1.5-2PSI diff before. I don’t know about now.

I live in Bellerose (or Queens) in NYC. This is like like 3rd tech I found, maybe I’m just having bad luck.

fresh water brings oxygen that increases corrosion.

So by draining brown water you create more brown water.

You can add treatment to increase the ph to reduce this but it’s tricky. Best to avoid new water by minimizing draining and leaks of steam and water
