I hope you're keeping the rest of that steam radiator system.

Never hasn't happened yet, but I will say it wasn't very nice to put the LOL reactions on this person's post. I wouldn't blame them for not posting after that.
As for the timing, I don't think it's unusual for someone to find a forum, make a new account, then post their question minutes after that.

I refuse to believe someone would post their century old, asbestos covered boiler up and realistically expect someone buy it. The scrap value of it wouldn't even pay for the gas money to drive it to the scrapyard.

I actually thought it was a joke. To think that someone would pay the owner to remove an old boiler? That's a good 3-4 hour job to disassemble and remove to say nothing of the asbestos abatement and iron disposal. Anyway, that's why I LOL'd.
Cruel perhaps, but that can be an aid to learning.
8.33 lbs./gal. x 60 min./hr. x 20°ΔT = 10,000 BTU's/hour

I have to think about how many times in my life I asked a question that those who know more than I know about that topic laughed at me. It drove me to learn more, partly because the ridicule hurt so much.
We all began somewhere, and we are all human, and fragile. Please be kind. Thanks

I think it will be a long quite wait for offers to pay you to remove your boiler . As for worth zippo nada as for cost as others may have stated nicely it will cost 1/2 of the boiler replacement to have that asbestos legally and properly removed and then some beasts to break it down and remove and dispose as for recupping money on the scrap valve good luck maybe what 100 bucks for the scrap cast if lucky and i doubt the guys removing and transporting to to the scrap yard will likely hand it over ,think not . . As high as the price will be, be sure you get the correct installer or installation contractor who is well versed in steam to do the boiler install other wise you will be paying twice . Also b sure that the new boiler is sized to the connected edr not matched to whats there or it firing rate ,it will be drastically oversized and will cost more to install and operate along w short cycling.
In my career the worst most often mistakes i see are over sizing, poor install and not comparing apples to apples when comparing contractors quotes and complete lack of research by home owners leading to getting the cheapest job w the worst install from usually the largest local company who spends a fortune on advertising ,not a great choice being most younger up and coming mech usually just tow a company line and do what there told and just cant wait to punch the time clock out ,not there name on the door .
Being as gentle as i can , being i do not post much anymore and there those who know way more then i but i thought i de put my one cent advice in there, for what it worth ,zippo . peace and good luck clammy
