Installing a 4 section residential steam boiler. I just hung up the phone with technical support. I’m using both risers. Technical told me to keep it two inch, after the tee going to the supply I could bump it up to 4 inch with a 2 - 4 reducer that’s what the original system is.

Is this "Utica Boiler" or "Utica Heating"?

Utica Boiler. Side outlets are 2" rather than 2-1/2".

It is. And the instructions clearly say DO NOT reduce the size of the steam tappings. That technical support person clearly can't read.

I'd build a standard 2-1/2" drop header, using both risers and dripping into the equalizer as usual, and run the takeoff from that into the existing 4" header, dripping that below the waterline into the return before the Hartford Loop. This will give you some nice, dry steam.
