Hi guys,

I am working on a one-pipe steam system in an old heritage building located in Downtown Calgary Canada. We need to replace the old steam boilers with new ones, but not able to find any information regarding the existing boilers. Thank you in advance.

    You don't need to know it. Your measurement of the load will tell you what you need. If there are zone valves or other factors it may be more complicated than just measuring the EDR connected to it.

    Are the original mechanical prints available?

    If not then all the radiators and fan coils will have to be measured for there EDR values. Then depending on the #'s 2, 3, 4 boilers will have to be installed.

    Are we talking radiators or fan coils or fin tube? For radiators there is a publication here -- "Every Darn Radiator" -- which has information for most radiators. Fan coils you kind of need the manufacturer's literature or guesstimate on the basis of similar modern ones. Fin tube is easy -- the EDR is the total surface area of the fins, counting both sides.
