Gate Valve for Small Recessed Radiator?

We are redoing a very, small powder room, and we planned on recessing this four-section radiator into the wall. The valve fitting is 1.25”, and there is only 5” on the inside of the radiator for the valve to fit into the bottom tapping. But, it seems that all the valves we find for 1.25” are either too tall and won’t fit cause it will hit the top of the radiator, or if we spin it, the valve will stick out, and that’s if we can even find a valve that will fit within the 5” clearance (plus we still have to put a plug on the other side, I think). Is there a different kind of valve that’s supposed to be used with these?

If not, contact the manufacturer and see what they recommend.

The only way you can have a valve on this unit is with a straight pattern valve where the handle will stick out past the grill.

Add to that 5" clearance 2 unions. Not going to happen. What's under Neath this location, Finished or open space? Can an access door be installed?

Luckily, we have an unfinished basement under the powder room and the washer/dryer is in that area of the basement. 99.9% it will never get finished, so I guess we lucked out and the valve will be underneath the floor!

Then any valve in the ceiling will work.

Though depending on how much space you have, you might have to take it apart to be able to spin it on the supply pipe.

Have you considered switching to a different type or style of radiator; baseboard perhaps?
