R410A

I have been looking for a nomnograph for R410A without any luck. I usually use the DuPont Refrigeration manual for pipe sizing and that is fine. They have Nomnographs for most of the other refrigerants but not 410A.

Specifically I am looking to size a 10 ton system with a long run and am concerned about low velocity and oil return with the pipe size the engineer is using.

With the high operating pressure of R-410A I haven't seen issues like 12 & 22!
Contact the manufacture, they'll say yes or no.

I used to use charts out of the old Trane Blue Book for 22 but I never have had anything similar for 410A. A quick search brought this up from York but it may not be as specific for what you need. Edit : that last link has some good stuff.

Chemours (DuPont) doesn't appear to have nomographs available for R410a. The best solution I can suggest is to use the Tecumseh line sizing program.

And an early Merry Christmas

The engineer wants to run a 10 ton 410A system (long piping run) and specified 1 5/8" suction. Sounds big to me (and it is) but now I will be able to figure it out. I was concerned about oil return. The good news is the condensers are below the evaporators but you still have to be able to move the oil even if lift isn't an issue

I’ve noticed one thing all the install manuals call for a larger suction line. Were 7/8 was good for 5 ton on 22 they almost all call for 1-1/8” suction now.
