Megapress fittings

So I have been tasked with running a new steam main and all of the corresponding run outs to the rads..

I haven’t been there yet but I’ve been told that the pipes coming down have all been sawzalled nearish the floor joists.

Do they make reducing megapress elbows? I doubt they make eccentric bushing..

My other option would be to really start from scratch and start from the rad and work my way down

Why would they have cut them off.....thinking of more head room?
    Megapress is good for steam?
I think the dead men piped from the main up.....no unions.

I’d start from scratch, BUT that’s me, no mega press for me.

Can’t you couple on, the floor above? If they chopped the pipe too tight it’s not your fault

I've used a welder for that. I understand some contractors cut them off flush so the system can be salvaged easily so they can sell them a new system

The company’s thought is to just use the mega press to get out of the joist and use black iron for the rest

if they cut them flush you may have trouble getting the gun on straight without hitting the next floor joist. It's rated for lp steam. no reducing ells, no eccentrics ....couplings and elbows and not much more.

If there's union on the rads maybe you can break the unions and let them drop go downstairs and press a coupling on......if you have trouble getting the gun on that is

When I learned about the job, the guy who told me about it said that he cut the pipes. And he assumed he would be the one going back.. so I think that he cut them with enough room to work on them.. we hope!

It got pushed back til around Labor Day
