Got a call from a HeatingHelp Wally in Sunset Park Brooklyn NY. Four family apartment tenement with two 2-1/2” mains. We’re going in with a Weil-McLain EG-75 and 4” header.

Great work, as always, but you should probably take the address off this post. NYC inspectors are no longer playing around with gas installations.Contact John "JohnNY" Cataneo, NYC Master Plumber, Lic 1784

Dave, I have a question on the equalizer after the drop and before the two take off, what is the length pipe you used and is there always a minimum length?0

I’ve worked in DC on steam boilers for almost 12 years now and I’ve never seen a single install that pretty.
In this area it’d probably have on riser, no header or an incorrectly piped header, and pressure set to 10psi. Inevitably I deal with this every winter here...
 Great lookikg work! Love it
@AMservices I can sympathize. I’m not in charge of quoting jobs but I get to deal with hack installs all winter every year.Never stop learning.0

Beautiful as always @Dave0176. And good for you to rip that entire old header out and start new.

Not really, unless it’s in great shape and a rare fitting, for instance one job last year I saved a 2X2X3” cast iron bullhead tee. Took it home bead blasted it and ran my taps in to clean the threads.nicholas bonham-carter said:Does anyone ever save the old fittings now?—NBC DL Mechanical LLC Heating, Cooling and Plumbing 732-266-5386
