TigerLoop instalation for Bio Fuel 100 rating
Interested in knowing what peple have found out there when upgrading to a B100 rating.
I'm finding descrepences when sourcing braided hoses (36"). Suppiler has one number, manufacurer gives another. Catalog states one rating, and sales info states another. Then you can not find them...
Talk to most techs, you get, I use these, never had a problem...
BioFuel is going to be up to 50% by 2030, it dosen't seem anyone is gearing up for it... looking at the $$ service work when things crash maybe?
Thanks!

Pipe them in copper. Tiger loop instructions call for replacing the Tiger loop after 10 years. I don’t recall seeing an expiration date on the standard flexible supply house hoses.
But I stopped using them as they would crack at the connection when flexing them while servicing the pump strainer.
I either use Ruby Reds (7 year recommended replacement) or run them in copper, leave them connected and unbolt the pump when I need to swing open a boiler door.2 -
I Thought I invented the removing pump procedure back in the 1990s, before swing out doors were a thing. I needed to do that for replacing combustion chambers before unbolting the fire door.
Should of got the procedure patented back then. DOH! 🤷♂️.

I haven't had any need to look yet, but my suppliers are offering B100 compliant. Whether or not they're in stock is another story. I'll jump off that bridge when I get to it.
I've never had any major issues with braided oil line.

You're supposed to add a 🤪 or something at the end to let us know you're kidding.

Thanks for the input!
Every vendor sends the same info, (I had it before I started this project). I asked numerous to physically go look at the label... guess they have reading problems, ha ha
Contacted Beckett, tech guy gave me another number, has to be right, he's the tech guy, right. 😁
Vendors would not even contact the guy, just, nope, no listing.... then they send the catalog page...
There are companies that make Bio100 compatible hose, Gates, and Parker are 2. Pretty sure the braided covering can be added.
This has been an education...

An FYI update.
The only place I have found that the documentation seems accurate is on tje packaging, and hose label of the TigerLoop S223-36.
States: No 1 & 2 Fuel Oil, "UP TO B100"
Package has production date.
Hose has "Limited Warranty Expires" date.
Unfortunately, vendors, and manufactures wete not interested in providing the answers. Another brand was the hoses were stiff, these are pliable.
Another bit, I seems the higher blend ratios can effect copper, and brass... but it seems that's not being addressed...
Just thought I'd share...

I wouldn’t worry about it, for now. Brookhaven Laboratory along with NORA published a report about it. It does affect copper and brass, but the conclusion was basically not enough to worry about on a single pipe residential system.
Would probably be a concern on a large commercial system.0 -
Is this a case of planned obsolescence? At least my son will still have a job until he reaches retirement age.

I was hoping to make my system B100 ready but ran into a few issues. B100 rating does not apply to the oil burner for starters. At least not mine, Riello F3, it has a B20 rating. For B100 it probably needs to be replaced with one of the gulliver models as it requires some special safety sensors. Also, firomatic valves are only B100 rated if they are new enough according to Beckett. They claim that some suppliers may still list them as B20. Mine was made in 2025 / 06 and doesnt mention B20 or B100 on the package and neither did the on that came with the B100 rated tigerloop. The tigerloop brand hoses appear to be B20 rated and I can't find a non hardening thread sealant rated for B100 either. So here we sit.. at least it is all B20 rated now. They started using B10 here last year and B15 slated for 2030.

While you're at it, don't overlook your o-rings and gaskets. The only material I would use for anything much over B10 is fluorosilicone (same thing applies to you gearheads out there — anything over E10 and you MUST use fluorosilicone).

I think the industry is using Viton (FKM) and not fluorsilicone. At least thats what Becket advertises.
