Local Supply house states that Webstone products are up by 67 % !

Some of the increases from a local Distributer as the following:

  • January 1st, PRO1 - 3-5%
  • January 8th, Runtal - 4%
  • February 1st, Tekmar - 1%
  • February 3rd, Caleffi - 3-5%
  • March 1st, Viessmann - 3-5%
  • March 1st, Viega ProPress® - 3-7%
  • March 1st, Centrotherm - 2-4%
  • March 31st, Webstone - 3-4%
  • April 14th, SunEarth - 5%
  • May 1st, Viessmann - 3%
  • May 1st, Grundfos - 4-5%
  • May 16th, Webstone - 6%
  • May 23rd, Tekmar - 2-8%
  • June 2nd, Caleffi - 18%
  • June 2nd, Falcon/Rectorseal - 29%

We did see it coming on the Chinese products such as the Webstone/Nipco Products..But are a little confused when domestic manufacturers that claim "Proudly Made in the USA" or when manufactures that source raw materials from non impacted countries also increase the prices….Price gouging ?

It would be non-logical and acting opposed to shareholder value for a domestic manufacturer to not raise their prices in the presence of competitors raising theirs, for whatever reason.

All companies should be setting their prices according to what the market will bear.

Just like a plumber would be a fool to keep his prices at the same level regardless of competition.

The fed can't raise the money supply 28% without causing inflation. Stopped at the deli for breakfast lately?

Will the Customers "like it" and keep it coming…Or do you think that it will have a rippel down effect which will also have an impact on a small business such as yours ?

Ya you really can't win anymore, they raise prices but we can't charge a larger price because the economy is messing with consumers as much as business owners

Of Course...that was "tongue in cheek" gallows humor. Like a bucking Bronc...gotta hang on and ride it out...what are WE really going to do about it? Improvise, adapt, overcome...not gonna ring my hands over it.....Mad Dog

That's called inflation and it's been present your entire life. Webstone is an extreme example, but the rest is just normal inflation.

I get the inflation rates of 3% to 5%… How about Caleffi upcoming Increase of 18% although current Italian inflation rate is at +2% …. Are Caleffi products made in "Ital'China" ?

I'll believe that when I see it. A few of the Caleffi products bear a striking resemblance to others coming from Asia, but it's hard to say. Then there are other items like Rifeng and Bluefin that we all know come from China, without a significant price hike. Webstone is simply greed in my opinion as they've got the market cornered with certain valves and can charge whatever they want, but the others I think for the most part are simply catching up to the 15+% inflation we had not so long ago. It looks bad now but I can see quite a few items that I paid the same for a month ago as I did 3 years ago. For example we have Taco, an "American" company, charging 35% more for zone controls than they did a year ago but that price was stagnant for 2-3 years prior.

@hot_rod this may be a chicken/egg type scenario, but the main item I had in mind was air eliminators. The Discal is nearly identical to the Webstone in smaller sizes. Which came first? Not that it really matters, I was merely making an observation. Are all Caleffi products completely manufactured without tie to Asia?
