t-stat cable is busted in wall

So , local supply house says i can deal with the issue of severed t stat cable in wall with using Honeywell THM5421R EIM at boiler, wiring it into Taco ZVC, and replacing t stat (that no longer has functioning wiring) in master bedroom with TH8110R vision pro 8000, which will communicate with the EIM.

6 zone , high temperature hydronic system.

I've not done this before and looking to see if any of you have.

thx, Mark

Intplm.

It will work fine, but you better know what you’re doing with control wiring.

It’s not something that I’d recommend for a DIY.

sry i didnt include , I am a contractor doing this for a customer.

Do you have any specifics on going from EIM to ZVC?

The EIM, of course, needs 24VAC power. I'm about 80% sure that the 8000 series thermostats need 24 VAC power to use the radio as well, although that can come from any source, or if two wires of the damaged stat wire are usable it can come from the EIM.

I recall that I found a Honeywell 5000 series (so non-programmable) wireless kit that did not require 24VAC power to the stat.

After that, if you take the R-Rh jumper out, the EIM is dry (no voltage) contacts between Rh & W or W1 & W2 if multistage.

This may be a dumb suggestion, but have you tried using the fractured cable to pull up a new one? If the old one's not stapled anywhere you may be able to fix this for ten bucks in wire.

Is the master bedroom on the first floor with an unfinished basement underneath ? Even if the original cable is stapled inside the wall if the cable path is vertical and the hole through the wall plate and the floor is big enough maybe you can just fish a new cable in.

    Sash weight chain

    2 snakes 1 up and 1 down

There are several ways without opening the wall or at the very least 1 or 2 small openings.

Unless and until I had established that it was absolutely impossible to replace or even splice the existing cable I wouldn't even consider what you're considering. I'd sooner open the wall and patch the drywall and paint.
