How do you know where to dig a well for drinking water?

Wood sticks are effected by magnets?
Single pipe 392sqft system with an EG-40 rated for 325sqft and it's silent and balanced at all times.

Where you dig is…downward. But I've never seen it work for a non-believer.

When I was building my house in 1993, my foundation was in and the house fully framed and sheathed before the well company showed up to drill. I asked the builder what happens if there's no water? He said there's always water if you go deep enough. My well is 350 plus feet - fortunately 10 plus gallons all day every day.

I gave up on a well in Montana at 300' My neighbor shared water from his 700' deep.
Deep as in deep pocket book, is what it takes sometimes.
