Main Venting.

Options
Hi.
I have a quick question regarding main venting. One guy i’ve used for many years said the one is enough and sufficient, but he retired so i found a new guy. He told me that ideally there should be one that goes to every radiator but he only found the one. The main vent is located at the very end of the main, just before it turns up to the bedroom (this is the last radiator, which is also the furthest away). The main measures roughly 23 ft and 1.5 inches diameter (assuming i measured right)

You only have the one main? Then you only need the one main vent...

An 1 1/2" Steam Main is not common...usually minimum is 2", but I've seen them.  Its all based on the Cubic Inches/feet of air in that pipe x length.  But without getting Crazy, a Gorton # 1 would be fine.  Mad Dog 🐕

Mine is 2” for the first 1/2 then it goes down to 1-1/2 but my system is small, 200 sq ft. @Dave0176 didn’t like that when he saw it, but it has worked fine.

    i agree with @Mad Dog_2 ! Gorton #1
