How many kWh to heat my home using and oil fueled hydronic baseboard system?

in Oil Heating
My electric bill has been exceedingly high and I’m inclined to believe I have a problem but first I need to understand what normal should be. In the assessment provided by the electric company it states 63% of my bill is from heating though two months ago it was listed differently so I don’t believe that’s accurate.
What I’m trying to determine is on average how many kWh it takes to heat a home the size of mine using oil heated hydronic baseboard system. The home is roughly 1900 sqft and all the thermostats are set at 62/63 from November to March/April and turned off completely between May and October. Since I do not have electric heat I’m at a loss to how this type of system could be using so much electricity.
Thanks in advance for any advice or input.

I’d look to AC, dehumidifying, water heating (if electric), etc.1

Kilowatt hours to heat a home if you have oil fired hot water heat? Well, you have the oil burner itself and then perhaps 3 pumps. The oil burner will take at most 300 watts or so when it's running. The pumps might also take that much, all told, when they are running. So about 0.6 kilowatts to run them. If we suppose -- again a ballpark figure -- that they run perhaps four hours per day on average, that would be a whopping 2.4 KWh per day -- or for your heating season, perhaps as much as 300 KWh per year.
Which isn't much. Something is wrong with the bill -- or you are using power somewhere else. As @Hot_water_fan says, look at air conditioners or dehumidifiers -- they can use a lot of power -- electric water heat (that can use a LOT of power). Multiple freezers or refrigerators.
Or, if your electric bill has suddenly gotten significantly higher -- what changed? That helps.
As a last resort, if there was a significant change in power usage (not money -- actual usage) and you are unable to find anything else... is someone else using some of your power? Unusual -- but not unheard of.Br. Jamie, osb

Just for clarity, you're talking about a boiler that burns oil to heat water, not 'oil filled' electric heaters, right?
There isn't an easy way for the power company to know just what their electricity is going to without extra metering. If you don't have two electric meters, or some kind of metering appliance at the electric panel or boiler, they're just guessing that it's being used for heat. Maybe their records are outdated or faulty.
Take a few pics of the boiler, standing far enough away to get a good of the piping around the boiler & attach that using the picture icon above the text box.

Unless there is a separate meter on your heating system, there is no way for the power company to know what it's using. You're certain this system uses an oil boiler? Is there any AC in the home that may be running while the heating is on? The heating system itself, if oil fueled, is likely under $20/mo.0

I didn't know that oil companies sold oil by the kWh!?! I always purchased it by the gallon.

After you make that expensive repair and you still have the same problem, What will you check next?
