Repacking leaking steam radiator

I have two leaking steam radiators. I was going to repack them the way that demonstrated in this video https://www.thisoldhouse.com/plumbing/21016873/how-to-repair-a-whistling-and-leaky-steam-radiator, but my are different. I've tried searching for spellings of the brand, Lulphon, Lilphon, Lalphan, etc., but did not have any luck. Can anyone advise me?

I see my comment in the picture is too small to read. It says, I took it apart there. I could not get it to separate. There is a rod with a spring holding the top part to the bottom.

Where you have the red arrow is the packing nut. You mentioned that there is a spring inside there. That spring is to push down of the packing to make the seal around the valve shaft.

It is really old stuff. It ain't gonna be easy! You man need to grind or file the pin flat, then drill the pin out. Also the washer and nut may or may not be one piece.

Or you need to purchase a new valve. I would try to take it apart first.

After you make that expensive repair and you still have the same problem, What will you check next?

Why is there a Hose clamp below that valve?

    See this thread: https://forum.heatinghelp.com/discussion/119950/lylphon-radiator-valve

Though it is not clear what the ultimate solution was. It looks like it is a packless valve.

Thanks Edward, I'll give that a try and let you know if I'm successful.

The previous owner used the hose clamp to hold down the trim ring since he put carpet around the pipe. You can see a piece of the carpet in the back corner.

It maybe the same as what you posted, Chris, but there seems to be packing material coming out between the stem and packing nut. There's no pictures in the thread you posted, but I wonder if it was discussing this type of radiator valve? https://forum.heatinghelp.com/discussion/180679/sylphon-adjustable-radiator-valves

    Thanks All!
