Could this radiator cover liner be asbestos.

in THE MAIN WALL
Purchased a 1926 home in NJ. Working on getting the steam heat working better. One metal radiator cover has a liner. Could this be asbestos? It’s deteriorated and looks like layers of soft material but not crumbly like I would envision asbestos around pipes.

    Anything “could be” 🤣, but it looks more like Masonite.

    Thanks everyone. Will replace regardless but that was condition I found it in so not much I could do.
