Steam baseboard vent maintenance help

I'm unsure what kind of vent this is for a baseboard in a 1-pipe steam system. It looks like this and I haven't been able to find anything similar looking online.
Have suggestions or equivalent vent products to suggest to use in this setup?

Unless I am sadly mistaken, that is a hygroscopic steam vent, similar to the Hoffman Model 508. I have no personal experience with them at all! But they are alleged to work -- and replacements are available on ebay, of all places.Br. Jamie, osb

Drill a small hole in the cover and install a straight convector vent with a coupler and nipple. Those hydroscopic vents are junk.0

But you want an very slow vent .. It's an single pipe iron base board ... They should be installed two pipe

That is an old Hoffman No. 500 steam vent, for both hot water and steam believe it or not. Just replace it with a straight Gorton vent.DL Mechanical LLC Heating, Cooling and Plumbing 732-266-5386

I cannot force people to spend money, I can only suggest how to spend it wisely.......0 -
Definitely not a case where something will work well with two different kinds of heating system.0

I think I would try again the #500 or #508 ... Better then an HeatTimer

Thanks! I'm going to try the #508, for now, to see how it works out as it's cheap to test with.0
