    Nice pipe fitting indeed.

Interesting LWCO installation on that old boiler. There appears to have been no way to blow it down.

That's quite a hole there. I wonder how long it took them to notice it!

Why the 90 in the left riser? Asthetics?

Great job, Dave. Where was this located? I'm wondering about chlorides in the feed water.

Hey @DanHolohan it is in Princeton NJ the old boiler was installed in 1980 so 36 years. There was a lack of maintenance too. I'm sure chlorides are a factor too.

@ChrisJ The old boiler was installed in 1980 so 36 years, not too bad. Also though the boiler was poorly maintained throughout the years. The current owner was taking care of it however I think the problem started years before as I removed some newer piping. There was newer piping on the return and Hartford loop and the riser from the boiler was definitely replaced.

Nice pipe work, you need to fill in the hole under the boiler so your secondary air isn't screwed up.

@RI_SteamWorks funny thing is technically according to Weil-McLain minimum specifications that header on the old EG-55 is piped right!! 3" all the way with a 1-1/2 equalizer. Gives a steam exit velocity of 22.59 FPM, waaay to fast for my liking!!!! Lol

There's piping to the minimum specs, and then there's good. You took the time and trouble (and had the expertise) to take it apart and install dual risers into a dropped header, which is really good. Good for you.

And really good for your customer.

    But you're modest, I know...

Hi I am the homeowner the proud new owner of Dave's latest masterpiece. The pictures tell you guys all you need to know about the quality of Dave's work. I would like to comment on the quality of the guys who did the work. Dave and his dad Walt (he helps Dave with installs) made me feel like I had family doing the job. From the energy they poured into their work to just being fun to have around. I mean who the heck would work until 10 PM on a Saturday and then come back Sunday morning with a smile. I also found myself heading down to the basement not to check on them but just to hangout I am sure I got in their way but they didn't complain. In fact Walt who's full-time job is running his Walts Jerky Shop in New Jersey even brought me a ton of free samples (which were fantastic). My teenage sons think I'm nuts making them come down to the basement to stare at the sexy beast that is my new boiler. My younger son just asked me who I am going to hangout out with now that the boilers done? I told him Dave and Walt I mean the things got to be serviced every year.
I know I waited way to long to get this new boiler. In fact I have read a couple of Dan's books and come to the forum often since I moved in 12 years ago. From what I had learned here I never felt comfortable with anyone who came out to see the boiler before Dave. While it could have ended badly with that old steamer I am glad I held out until now. Thanks guys!!

Very nice to know a customer who appreciates a good (way better than good) job. So many only care about the price.

Happily, one of those good customers cancels out several of the ignorant ones.

    Nice job , Dave
