Sorry to have to post this but it has come to my attention that certain individuals have taken it upon them selves to question my qualifications. They have chosen to tell potential customers for themselves (they are doing gas training) that my training is simply theoretical and has no basis for application to modern systems. That I am old an out of touch with what is really happening in the heating world.

Well I am sorry but I have had just about enough of this stuff and want to let it be known that I am licensed and have been doing this training now for many years. The quality of my training is according to many who have attended my sessions "the best in the world" (I am not sure about the whole world but am quoting others).

My wife told me not to post this but it is actually affecting my business and I would like to keep doing this just a little longer. We are working on putting what I do on a disk or flash drive and selling it so I guess I want to make sure I am still viable in the market.

The folks who are promoting this myth claim to be the top gas trainers in the country. Perhaps they are but please do not bad mouth me as I am not naming you or bad mouthing your ability. Let us all be in business and be at peace.

It this presents a problem Erin feel free to take it down.

I am judgmental as heck, and quick to ask for proof of licensing as we all know from my recent spat with Hat, and I know you are the one person I have never doubted when it comes to gas equipment. You are certainly not all book knowledge Tim.

Tim, you have helped me and many others immensely.
Your years of experience is what the world needs.
So many HVAC people have the attitude that old equipment should be replaced. Mainly because they don't understand or want to learn about anything that has been working for the last 30 to 100 years.
There are a lot of systems that can not be replaced because of cost etc. People appreciate someone who can make the system work and not quick to condemn their equipment.
They remember the one who repaired the existing when at some point they will upgrade.

Thanks from all of us here.

Tim's classes are solid. I can't speak to his certifications specifically, but he's an expert by anyone's definition of the word.
I spent a week in his class last year and am a better technician for it. His classes reach all levels and his experience is undeniably relevant to the equipment in use today and in the past.
That's the kind of learning and exposure a field tech needs.

@Mad Dog eaten bread is soon forgotten.
But the rest of us know the asset @Tim McElwain is to this forum and our industry. I will be ordering books by the end of this weekend and I truly wish I had time to attend his classes. Being a one man band I need to learn on the run when I can squeeze in a moment to read.
EVERY time I have been stumped on a gas burner Tim has answered the phone and my question without guessing. He knows his stuff.

I took his week long class two or three years ago, time flies, and it was very knowledgeable. He sent me home with a ton of binders full of more than I could ever use.
Anyone who questions his knowledge base has never talked to him.
Tim: Try not to let it get you down, although it will be hard. Just keep on doing what you are doing. Not sure what else you can do besides suing for slander, but that can get ugly and expensive.

Thanks Folks for the support. I try very hard to never put down anyone in this business even if they are my competition. This particular situation has hurt my business however as supported by some folks I met at a recent trade show. My training offerings were drastically mis-represented and the source was a particular competitor if they can be called that for lack of a better word.

I am at a critical transition in life and with my wife not being well it puts an extra burden on me. So being able to keep conducting my training and still making enough money to make it worth doing becomes a concern. The manufacturers rep (a long time friend of mine) who brought this maligning to my attention thought I needed to be aware as it was affecting people choosing to come to my classes or purchase my manuals.

Once again thanks for the support.

The info in that noggin of Tim's will be lost to the industry and impossible to replace. Why would anyone in our industry be against sharing that knowledge?

If these other folks are truly professionals they should not have bad mouthed anyone licensed as such. Let's see their credentials and years of experience...
