Your forgetting the weight of the water of the inner tank. Certainly enough to counter 15 psi, and lesser volume of water in the outer tank. In a smart 60. 56 gals verses 8. 467 lbs. verses 67 lbs.0

The instructions for a virgin tank are to fill inner then outer tank. Nothing about certain pressures. But on page one it says to make sure you drain outer tank before inner tank.
Instructions for draining inner tank at the back of the manual is to make sure outer tank is less than 15 psi. Not zero, and not empty. Before draining inner tank.
These instructions are some what contradicting, and lacking detail if someone jumps to the maintenance portion of the manual.
All though I would like to see the data on how many failed tanks TT gets a call on from improper fill procedures that are denied warranty. It's on page one, so most certainly missed by a self proclaimed qualified installer.
Of course our debate is about two filled inner, and outer tanks with pressure variations. Quite different scenario.0 -
Pressure from a water column is only applied at the given elevation. The 1.75 pounds is at the bottom of the tank. The top of the tank has almost 0 pressure from the column. I think the failures are from the welded supports holding the inner tank. The issue is that once something goes back under warranty I never get reason for the failure.Cost is what you spend , value is what you get.

New thread?
Which differential, and which Solo -- the TriMax or the MCBA?0 -
Hi All,
Blowing the dust off this old thread I started, as I would like to ask a question, but first a few comments. Hattie and I communicated a number of times via PM last winter. With the help of him and Triangle Tube Technical Support (whom I also found to be very helpful), we dialed in the boiler pretty darn good and it performed well all winter and it was a tough one in New England. It's been working well, no issues thus far about a year in (knock on wood). I also want to mention, apologies if this is duplicitous, that senior technical resources at Triangle Tube looked at detailed pictures I sent them and validated the install and my warranty, in writing. My goal in mentioning that is not to debate once again the integrity of the install, but I thought it worth mentioning. Now to my question.
Can someone recommend a professional in the Hartford, CT area or vicinity who is very familiar with installing and servicing Triangle Tube boilers? I don't need service per se, but maintenance prior to the heating season and possible cleaning/replacing of the condensate drain assembly (not a big deal and I already have the part received gratis). Someone also mentioned something to me about adding a neutralizer to the drain line, but I have not validated that advise against the manual.
Thanks in advance!0 -
