    ChrisJ, you might be right. I don't know what the operating characteristics of the boiler are when derated by manifold pressure. I know that the LGB series is available with a 2-stage valve and I have been told that it remains very efficient on low fire. So, for the EG, I don't know. Did you do any efficiency testing on yours in an underfire operation? I was told by one of the pros that my old Pennco, which was firing at a reduced rate would have a high amount of excess air and a significant loss of efficiency. The huge improvement when the boiler was replaced seemed to substantiate that.

    Weil-McLain 680 with Riello 2-stage burner, December 2012. Firing rate=375MBH Low, 690MBH Hi.
    System = Early Dunham 2-pipe Vacuo-Vapor (inlet and outlet both at bottom of radiators) Traps are Dunham #2 rebuilt w. Barnes-Jones Cage Units, Dunham-Bush 1E, Mepco 1E, and Armstrong TS-2. All valves haveTunstall orifices sized at 8 oz.
    Current connected load EDR= 1,259 sq ft, Original system EDR = 2,100 sq ft Vaporstat, 13 oz cutout, 4 oz cutin - Temp. control Tekmar 279.

    No testing on mine in that regard as I don't plan in underfiring it. When it gets cooler out Jstar will be coming out to set things out so maybe he'll be interesting in trying that, I don't know.

    The chimney was just lined, thats the bricks just shoved back into place, it all needs to be cemented. The boiler is fully connected to the flue.
