Is there an absolute best location for tying in the fresh water makeup on a 1 pipe steam system (such as in the wet return near the boiler, or at a tee right at the boiler return)?

I like to tie them in

to the wet return prior to the Hartford Loop. This helps keep from shocking the boiler with cold water.
