Shower pan leak

I have backed these gaskets up with black or clear silicone. Since doing so, and with the proper fit, I have had little to no problems. It's just a small insurance step that seems to work. It gives me a little more peace of mind when done.

I don’t know if that gasket hardened and shrunk or was that size originally. I only have the new gasket to compare it to. Either way I’m not using it because it leaked. There are a lots of posts on different DIY forums about leaking shower pan seals. The same gasket is mentioned in alot of them.

I DuckDucked SiouxChief but couldn't find what I was searching for. There's a funnel system to catch any leakage past primary drain.

The gasket was installed correctly, wasn’t old, maybe 5 years it shouldn’t have leaked and ruined the ceiling below. Had I had the two in the photos I definitely would’ve used the largest one.
