No longer available
I've just run into something I haven't experienced in a while. I have a dishwasher, A GE dishwasher that was installed in a new (2017) construction dorm with two resident faculty apartments. This machine has a leaking water valve. I though, no sweat easy fix. well it turns out the part is no longer available! WTH? All of the parts sources are with out. I haven't run into this issue on a modern piece of equipment and for such a simple replacement part.
I guess I just had to vent for a second. We will of course be replacing this washer. I a big fan of the Bosch I have and the ones we have in some of our residences.
Won't be a GE

did it work when the water valve was working? my experience with the new "ge' which is just rebranded haier i think is that they basically don't work at all.
probably can find the valve they bought trough a generic supply chain

I am not familiar with finding a generic piece. When I input the OEM part # I get The usual replace/repair places. I'm not sure how to go about finding a funtional replacement. I'd rather not get another machine if at all possible. I'd also rather not retrofit/adapt a part if only because appliance repair is not my daily thing. If it were my own place I'd be more likely to try it.

can you post the oem number here and maybe someone can find it?

I haven't taken it apart I only observed it dripping from the valve. exactly where? I can see that it's not leaking from the supply connection.
And yes it does seem to be delivering water, openning and closing.

it looks like there may be a new part number for it from that d&l listing. might be able to pay the $30 it should cost for a generic of that

Whirlpool is kind fo convoluted but mostly pretty easy to figure out.
Whirlpool acquired maytag. Maytag acquired Amana, Magic Chf and Jenn Air.
Whirlpool acquired roper, seeger, and kitchenaid at some point.
Whirlpool and Maytag acquired their competitors either as they went out of business or when they wanted to grow or wanted to cover some appliance line. The roper and magic chef acquisitions were for whirlpool and maytag to get in to the range business.
Whirlpool(and all of its brands) is still pretty solid, all of the other us brands have mostly been stripped for parts by venture capitalists and are just using the name on whatever they can scrape up.

I knew I'd read something about the brands being the same. But I couldn't recall where.

This makes sense really. My fear was/is from ignorance. I didn't want to open this up only to have a part that didn't fit. Live and learn.

I never thought of Grainger for this kind of thing. Again live and learn

usually their price is 3x everyone else's but that seems reasonable

the us brandsare consolidated in to 4 or 5 companies. then there are a few independent high end us brands and european brands and numerous asian manufacturers.

It never occurred to me to look at Grainger for something like this. I get a lot of stuff from there for servicing the mechanical here just never thought of them for the appliances i have to service. I like that their shipping is fast.
