Taco SR506 to Hydrostat 3250 Plus Constant Heat Call

That configuration does not necessarily shut off the space heat circulators. so you could have all 6 zone circulators operating at the same time. If you want to have priority for the DHW then you need to wire the DHW circ to zone 6 and the water heater thermostat to zone 6

In your case I'm thinking the Hydstrostat 3250 does not control any circulators, Since nothing is connected to C1 and C2. When the burner is activated the boiler may have its own circulator that runs. From what I have seen the assumption I have is the SR506 and SR501 control all the circulators.

Agree with @109A_5 last post. I still believe you need to change the ZC and ZR wire to at least a 14 gauge conductor, better yet, put the DHW circulator on zone 6 from of the SR506 and the water heater thermostat on the SR506 and eliminate the SR 501 completely.
The only thing that would change my mind on that course of action is if the Hydrostat is set up for outdoor reset (ODR). Then you need to jump the ZC and ZR in order to get the boiler up to 170° or 180° for the water heater to get hotter boiler water for faster DHW recovery. But I have not seen any mention of ODR from OP @BG9696. I have noted it from others who are speculating but not from the OP

Looks like Outdoor Reset is not being used.
If you decide you want the DHW priority feature (Taco SR506) with the bypassing of the Thermal Targeting feature (Hydrostat 3250). This is an example of probably the simplest way. No SR501 needed.

Shutting the power off regardless if it is 24 or 120 VAC is the best policy when moving wires. Even if a 24 VAC wire gets away from you and it touches something it should not touch, it could damage the electronics. The old relay type controls were a bit more tolerant to mistakes.

The existing setup would work if wired like I posted earlier.
The Hydrostat would also need to be programmed to recognize calls from both TT and ZR/ZC.

Yes it will, which is close to or the same as it is now. But why not have the DHW priority that the Taco SR506 provides and remove a part that is not really needed (SR501). And have better performance from the system ?

If the OP is mechanically inclined, then sure. But you can also have priority through the Hydrostat. When ZR/ZC closes, TT opens. As long as the switch is set to "indirect".

The hydrostat priority is not the same. I would not even call it a priority since it never shuts off the space heat circulator(s) controlled by the Taco SR506. It just bypasses the Hydrostat's Thermal Targeting.
The OP was already moving around live wires and everything survived. So a bit of skill or dumb luck ?

Using the SR506 alone is the way to go as long as ZR in the Hydrostat is wired to the C1 hot on the indirect circulator.
