Burner Motor replacement capacitor.
I have a few Carlin motors with bad capacitors. These are the older PSC motors with the round capacitor PN#98022CAP which appears to be discontinued. Does anyone know of a source for a substitute?

Nope!…lol They used to sell them but no more. Obviously you can try to match the uF's and use a standard available one. Beckett doesn't have them either. You can also google ducati capacitors and find something close.

Digikey. Match the capacitance, voltage, and type (electrolytic) and you should be good to go.

There are some 16 uF Ducati caps on E-bay. Don't know if they match

it is a little more complicated, it needs to be nonpolar and rated as a run or start cap depending on how it is used which i think has to do with the esr.

If going with a higher voltage Capacitor measure the size, make sure it will fit.

What I have found so far, that fit the numbers are "run" capacitors.

is the cap cut out by the centrifugal switch or is it always in circuit, that will tell you if it is a start or run cap. 15 mfd run caps are pretty readily available if they will fit under the can since they are higher voltage they will be physically bigger.

That is specified as a "run" Cap. however, Carlin says "The Carlin PSC Motor utilizes a capacitor to assist startup and run of the motor."

That way Carlin is the only company that you can get that from. You can get Run Capacitors anywhere they sell capacitors, but you can only get the original Carlin part from someone that may have some old stock laying around somewhere.

…you can always just purchase a bunch of 3 amp fuses anywhere they sell auto part, But if you want the genuine original "Smoke Keeper®", that is guaranteed to keep the factory installed smoke inside the 24 volt transformers, then you must buy the Smoke Keeper.

Now we are getting off topic…. although I like the Lil Popper over blowing fuses to find a problem. The point was that Carlin called their run cap a start and run assist cap in order to make some people that don't know any better, believe that their more expensive repair part was different

and also annoying the "Residential Oil Training guide" I received during training two months ago says the Caps are field replicable. I cant even find Caps for the new motors. Honestly a third of the people we service can hardly afford oil, much replacing a motor when they really only need a capacitor.

you could always attach like a handy box in place of the cover and put a regular motor run cap in that if it won't fit in the factory cover. 15mfd is the same as 16 mfd for any practical purpose.
