sunrad steam radiator close to boiler gurgles clicks & is annoying

Options

hi, I had a new gas boiler installed in June and it is performing well. Pressuretrol set to aprox 1.25 cutout and .5 cut-in. The attached pics show the piping to the above mentioned Sunrad which has a new vent-rite set at 4 installed and inlet valve wide open. The rad gets hot but constantly gurgle and clicks which is annoying as hell (no gurgling or clicking with old boiler). No water is spitting out of the vent. Piping to it that is pictured is aprox 8'. Any help in figuring out what is going on and how to fix would be appreciated.

thanks,

Pete

Check the piping for pitch. Maybe something changed with the boiler swap. Is the rad hooked up 1 pipe or two pipe?

Did they skim the boiler and is the water level steady while steaming?

Need more pics of the boiler piping.

How about posting some pics of the boiler header and near boiler piping that show it in its entirety?

    hi,

They did skim after install. I have attached pic of site glass which when boiler not running has prob 3" more water in it. Water is not surging during operation, Please see attached pics and hope that helps.

    Thanks again

hi, forgot to mention that one pipe system. I checked the pipe pitch and it slopes down at least 3" from last section coming from the radiator to the last elbow which turns the pipe towards the boiler.

could try a slower vent. if i remember a vent rite is still pretty fast on its slowest setting.

You said it's not surging during operation and yet the level is dropping 3"? That is surging. Cue "Black Water" by the Doobie Brothers

The surging water might not be getting all the way up to the radiator, but the sound of it might be going there. It might only be surging up to the header (which it is a nice header, by the way)

I read that wrong. If the water is leaving the boiler it probably needs to be skimmed a couple more times. How many times has it been skimmed already?

hi, As far as I know skimmed only once. BTW forgot to mention one radiator valve is leaking (not the gurgling one & it drips at least 1 - 1 1/2 cups of water every heating cycles) and Im having it replaced tomorrow. I know I probably should have put that in the first post but all your questions just reminded me.
