Are these pretty decent? Any suggestions as to installing, should they be insulated?

I want to put one on my boiler return line.

Thanks !

Hi, I've had good results with them. I would insulate as best you can. Also, you might put a dab of conductive grease under it, where it "reads" pipe temperature, to help it out a bit.

A zip tie, better yet a hose clamp is a simple way to connect any temperature sensor to a pipe. Insulation over it is critical for accurate readings. Tekmar sensors, on left, actually have a flat spot to clamp on pipes.

This Azel is a handy temperature gauge, battery operated or 24VAC

It reads supply and return to give you good info. Find them from various online sources.
