I was commenting on a Facebook post about risers , I said higher the better. Another post commented that if you go to high you can create stress on the boiler and crack it. He also said the specs call for 24 inches above waterline. As we all know our buddy dan says just install a 24 inch nipple ……. The question is

If you go 24 inch then union and another 6 inches or so is that going to void the warranty because the manual says different then what you did?

While there are potential problems with tall risers, cracking the block isn't one of them — and if the diameter of the riser is reasonable, the others don't count either.

    Good grief.

Best to follow the manufacturer's instructions. That way, you have less of a chance of something going wrong. Too many folks do not read the manufacturer's directions, and that is when so many problems can occur.

That 24-inches is a minimum distance. Taller won't be a problem. What model boiler?

Make it 10' tall if you want and don't listen to anything on Facebook. 24" is minimum there is no maximum
