Loud banging when heating STEAM HEAT

Have a steam heating system. Have a loud banging of pipes when house is heating. Radiator is pitched correctly and vents are installed. When I close off valve on the one radiator that is the loudest, banging goes away. What are some that could be causing this.
Could that one radiator be rusted internally and not allowing water to drain back completely?

is the valve open all the way?

That's the most obvious… but another is to check the pitch on the pipes leading to the radiator — the pitch of the radiator is almost irrelevant. But the pitch of the pipes leading to it most assuredly is!
